2022 Project Highlights: Bathroom
As we enter a new year, we’re taking some time to reflect on a few of our favorite projects from 2022. We worked with all types of clients to create bathrooms, kitchens, closets, fireplaces, and full home renovations. Each client came to us with a different story, and we enjoyed the process of getting to know their styles and transforming their homes.
For our final project highlight, we’ll focus on a bathroom. Our client came to us with a new home purchased to downsize after their last child left for college. Their master bathroom was exactly what you’d expect from a home built in the mid 90s. With white square tiles, particle board cabinets, and a cheap countertop, this bathroom was about as bland as they come.
BEFORE
They asked us to help them design a space that felt like a stunning master bathroom. They left the planning and material selection entirely up to us as they weren’t very familiar with current trends. In their design, we made slight updates to the floor plan to make the space more functional. We removed the bulky pedestal tub and replaced it with a freestanding tub. We made a continuous vanity and replaced the makeup station with a pullout hamper and a pullout trash can. We removed the shower bench and replaced with a corner shaving seat and added a second showerhead. Finally, we updated the mirror and lighting plan to include lights bordering each side of the mirror.
FINAL DESIGN
The most exciting portion of this project was selecting materials. We chose a basketweave marble mosaic tiled floor paired with a large format simplistic wall tile to stop the bathroom from feeling too busy. We combined a white vanity with a marble like quartz top. Finally, we styled the plumbing fixtures, lights, and mirrors with matte black and brushed gold to give the bathroom a final touch of elegance.
AFTER
We absolutely love their new master bathroom! It feels like a relaxing spa instead of a basic sterile white bathroom. It turned our clients house into a home by creating a beautiful space for them to unwind after a long day. We know they will enjoy it for many years to come!
