2022 Project Highlights: Kitchen
As we enter a new year, we’re taking some time to reflect on a few of our favorite projects from 2022. We worked with all types of clients to create bathrooms, kitchens, closets, fireplaces and full home renovations. Each client came to us with a different story and we enjoyed the process of getting to know their styles and transforming their homes.
Our client came to us with a request for a kitchen renovation. They had the classic “house built in the late 80s” kitchen. As new empty nesters, they decided it was time to embark on their first major renovation. They were tired of poorly designed, traditionally styled cabinetry, builders grade countertops, yellow walls, and a pointless dividing wall by their island.
BEFORE
They went into the design phase with the mentality of getting a kitchen designed around their cooking and entertaining needs.. While they didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg, they didn’t want budget to limit their choices on the design side and the material selection process. They wanted to get rid of their downdraft cooktop and take their cooking station off the island. They wanted pantry storage, a large island with double sided storage and seating, a second prep sink and a built-in microwave.
We were able to accomplish all of this giving them an cooktop with a properly vented hood, a prep sink, microwave and beverage fridge in their island, a fridge and double oven, and two pantry cabinets. Built into the design were two decorative glass cabinets, spice pullouts, pullout trash can, and organization drawer inserts to optimize their kitchen’s functionality.
FINAL DESIGN
We brought the kitchen to live by choosing a very modern design aesthetic. They opted for a subtle two tone design with white wall and tall cabinets and gray base cabinets. They chose a stunning quartzite countertop with whisps of gray, blue, and red veining. They chose a natural marble tile for their floor and backsplash that was cut to size for 12”x24” format on their floor and 3”x11” format on their backsplash. They chose matte black finishes for their pulls and faucets and elegantly styled pendant lights to highlight their island.
AFTER
We couldn’t have been happier with the finished results! The transformation was night and day from their dated brown kitchen. Not only was the new aesthetic beautiful, but it finally gave them the functionality they’d dreamed of in their kitchen. They now have a lovely space which they happily show off to their friends and family.
