Custom Indoor Sauna

The starting selection converts an existing 5′×5′ indoor space into a custom sauna designed to accommodate approximately 2–3 people. The selected space and necessary walls must already exist. Mayflower will remove the existing wall and ceiling coverings as required, exposing the existing framing so the room can be insulated, lined, and finished as a sauna. The finished interior height will be approximately 83½″. Custom dimensions and layouts are available based on the size and configuration of the existing space. New room construction, structural alterations, or expansion of the existing space is not included unless added to the project scope.

The sauna walls and ceiling will be finished with tongue-and-groove Clear Western Red Cedar installed horizontally with concealed fastening. The cedar will remain unfinished to preserve its natural appearance, aroma, and suitability for the high-temperature sauna environment. Knotty Western Red Cedar and Canadian Hemlock selections are also available.

The starting configuration includes a Sauna Craft CW-M-531 electric sauna heater with traditional sauna stones. The heater provides dry sauna heat and allows water to be applied to the heated stones for bursts of steam. A built-in high-temperature safety cutoff is included, and the heater’s baffled construction promotes airflow and efficient heating.

The standard selection includes a 24″×72″ frameless tempered-glass sauna door with a required framed opening of approximately 27½″×76½″. Clear or bronze-tinted glass may be selected, and the door can be configured with left- or right-side hinges. Cedar-framed insulated-glass and other decorative door options are also available.

One sauna-rated wall sconce will be installed inside the enclosure to provide warm interior illumination. Optional upgrades include paired recessed ceiling lights and LED accent lighting beneath the benches or along selected wall and ceiling locations.

The sauna will include a low air inlet near the heater and an adjustable cedar outlet vent positioned on the opposite side of the enclosure. The ventilation arrangement will promote air circulation, distribute heat throughout the room, and help prevent excessive heat accumulation around the heater.

The sauna will be constructed over an existing suitable finished floor. Tile, concrete, and other heat- and moisture-resistant surfaces may be used. Removable cedar floorboards for the open walking area are available as an optional upgrade. Any new tile installation, waterproofing, floor drain, or structural floor preparation must be identified in the selected project scope.

Mayflower will frame the sauna walls and ceiling, install the required bench and heater blocking, apply the insulation and foil vapor barrier, install the cedar lining, assemble the floating benches, hang the sauna door, and install the manufacturer-supplied trim and sauna components.

Mayflower will obtain and file the required electrical permit. Upon completion, the electrical work will be scheduled for final inspection by the applicable county or municipal authority. All permit fees, inspection fees, and permit-processing costs will be covered by Mayflower.
